Formerly one of "Murphy's Sea View Cottages", this spacious gem is nestled in a small group of cottages and overlooks the ocean. A short drive from Kensington and Summerside, the cottage is convenient to shopping, dining, and attractions. Whether you want to visit Avonlea and walk the beaches of Lucy Maude Montgomery, learn Celtic dancing, take the lighthouse tour, or feast on PEI mussels and lobsters, Northern Knights is the place to stay. View our photos and imagine yourself strolling on the beach, frolicking in the ocean, or sitting on the deck watching the sunset over the sea. And finish the day as the northern lights rise in the night sky over the Cottage. The cottage underwent a complete facelift in 2011. We began by adding a third bedroom that faced the sea. The new bedroom has great views through its picture window along with a smaller window on each side wall. Each of the other bedrooms also received new windows, making them brighter and compliant with Provincial fire codes. We removed the old wood burner and replaced it with modern propane heat to take the chill off on a cool summer evening. We expanded the kitchen by installing all new cabinets, counter tops, and a breakfast bar. And we brought it into the 21st century by adding a dishwasher, a stacked washer/dryer unit, and a water filtration system. And what would a new kitchen be without a new bath?! We replaced the toilet, sink, vanity, and flooring. All of the additions necessitated upgrading the plumbing and the electrical system throughout. We finished with new flooring, a new ceiling treatment, a fresh coat of paint, new furniture, and all new curtains, linens, and bedding.

    This property is the guest cabin on the same property as the main house. The rental cabin is at the back of the property, behind and slightly offset from the main house. It is on a quiet, private shared lane. Although the rental cabin does not sit directly on the beach, you can walk across the property, through a garden and down to the lake in less than a minute. The last part of the walk to the beach consists of a combination of 3 landings and 25 wide, brick steps. The beach consists mostly of small pebbles and rocks. Shuswap Lake is known for its calm, warm, clear water. Our beach does not have a drop off area and it is suitable for very young children. The main shopping destination is Salmon Arm which is a 40 minute drive by car, from the cabin. The cabin is across the lake from Sicamous, a 15 minute boat trip away. The barbecue, dock, a buoy, picnic table near the beach and two kayaks and a canoe are available for your use. Campfires are allowed on the beach unless a provincial burn ban is in effect. A boat launch is available at Totem Resort, 5 minutes away. Basic groceries and marine gas are also available at Totem Resort. The cabin has one bedroom with a queen sized bed. It also has a double futon in the common area. It is possible to sleep 2 adults and 3 children in the cabin. We will provide a single pump up mattress for the 5th person. All spaces in the cabin are on one level except the futon which is 4 steps down and next to the entrance door. This is a pet free, smoke free cabin. You may have one dog with you if the dog is comfortable staying outside the cabin at all times. The dog would need to be secured in a crate or on a leash at night on one of the decks. Your dog is welcome on the beach and in the lake if it is accompanied by an adult.
