It is a traditional Cretan house: during the renovation all traditional architectural materials and details were respected which gives a very authentic result. Furnished with elegance and style, it combines Cretan furniture, antiques with modern solutions (ceiling fans and air-conditioning in all rooms) for your best comfort. Its outdoor spaces, the beautiful stone patio with old arches for a quiet reading moment as well as the large veranda and terrace with sea view where you can sit and count the stars at night or have a party are most astonishing during spring, summer and autumn when living outside is a real pleasure. It's privileged position in the village allows you to go to buy bread at the bakery in the morning in literally two minutes’ walk from the house and at the same distance at the opposite direction to have a swim at the closest beach. Panormo is village with family tourism, you can walk or jogg by the coast, eat at several local tavernas with authentic cretan food. A few cafes, hairdressers, massage, local excursions office are a few of the shops in the village waiting to be discovered. Ideal for families with young children, taking the car is not needed unless you want to do excursions and visit the rest of Crete. If your children are older, however, and you dream of discovering the mystery of the Knossos labyrinth or to cross the Samaria gorge, you can rent a car in the village or at the airport and drive around. Panormo is 45 min drive from the airport of Heraklion (the capital of Crete) and 20 minutes’ drive from Rethymnon. It is one and a half hours from Chania and 50 min drive from the closest beach on the south coast of Crete. Its location at the centre of the north coast of the island is perfect to make excursions and visit the rest of Crete, the south coast for its beaches and the various towns of Crete, from west to east. A short five-minute walk on the flat takes you into the heart of the village. The village also has a large market every Saturday morning which is quite a weekend event. Another bonus for this villa’s location is the close proximity of the coast but without the congestion. Whilst I would not recommend the beach there, it has an attractive marina, and is a good place to book boat trips, fishing and diving and has numerous good bars and restaurants. Cartegena (45 mins drive) is a similarly good choice for boat trip and boats stunning architecture and a Roman Theatre. For beach fun Bolnuevo (30 mins drive) is a good option as it is a nice beach yet close to shops, restaurants and other amenities. Playa Percheles (35 mins drive) is also a very attractive spot, but is unspoilt and lacks the amenities of Bolneuvo).

    Unfortunately we had to shorten our vacation and return to Canada on March18 although we had rented the condo until April 15. The covid-19 crisis was spreading across Spain and we had to leave this very comfortable condo. We rented a car in Malaga and a car is needed if you want to visit Estepona and surronding area. The condo is at about 10 km from Estepona historical village. There was plenty of free parking place in Estepona and at the condo. The condo building and hallway is not very attractive but once in the condo it is very clean, very comfortable and well equiped. The kitchen is small and the oven fan was not working but other than this small problem everything else was working fine. The heating system works well to cut down on humidity when outside weather is rather cold. The access to international TV was extremely useful since we needed information on the status of the pandemic in Spain. We enjoyed our first week when we spent every day walking in Estepona and discovering this beautiful and colorful city. The second week we stayed at the condo to avoid being affected by the virus. We then discover the walk along the beach in Bahia Dorada and we enjoyed this daily walk just minutes from the condo. The Mercadona grocery store is only five minutes from the codo. You can easily find plenty of fresh local products: fish, vegetables, fruits, wine and bread.

    This was the first time we were in Portugal. We had booked this apartment on line and were totally surprised when we arrived. It was very clean and very well laid out. Excellent security, a beautiful view from the balcony of the ocean where we could watch the tides and the fishermen collecting oysters,and clams.Lots of great restaurants within walking distance and a waterfront with many boats coming and going.
    We were very satisfied even though we had to leave early due to the Virus pendemic
