The white-washed city of Cisternino sits on the undulating plains of Puglia. It is listed as one of the most beautiful small towns in Italy. The town has an active evening passeggiata when the residents go out and stroll about to meet for a chat or an aperitivo. There are lots of cafes and restaurants, including a local peculiarity - macelleria-eateries, meat markets where you choose what you want and they grill or roast it for you while you wait. There are artist's gallery and spiritual community around there. Cisternino is in the heart of Puglia's trulli region, a fascinating area to explore the peculiar architectural structures that are characterized by their cone-shaped roofs. Interesting towns in the area include Locorotondo, Martina Franca, Ostuni, and Alberobello. The port city of Bari is also in easy reach and is the closest airport to Cisternino. The unit is in a very quiet and little square, in the center, where no car are allowed, but next to the main street.

Public transportation, (bus and train) are available at the bottom of the hill in the village of Caldine. It is a 10/15 minute walk through the hilly bucolic countryside. The train, a 12 minute ride from the Fiesole /Caldine station (with free parking) to Santa Maria Novella station in the center of Florence, runs approximately every hour. The buses, a 30 minute ride, also take you into Florence. There is little public transportation after 8pm. Caldine has a supermarket as well as post office and bank. Praia da Rocha is one of the most amazing beaches in Algarve. The beach is extensive with some beautiful rocks which gives quite a charm to the scenery. Blue sea and clean sand - you won't be disappointed. Along the beach, there is a wood trail, where you can go for long walk or run. The Marina is just a few minutes walking and has a breathtaking ocean view. There you can find the Santa Catarina fortress, and a small bay to swim, nice restaurants and the well known oceanic pool with salt water "NoSoloÁgua", where some events also take place. The Marina has a panoramic view to "Ferragudo" castle and beaches as well, offering the possibility of exploring all the area by boat. Also plenty of beaches to explore nearby, including "Praia do Vau", "Praia do Alemão", and another of my top favourites "Praia dos 3 Irmãos" (Praia of the 3 brothers). You will definitely enjoy you stay!
