    Oasi delle Salinelle is a large well appointed Sicilian villa set in a very large garden full of lemon trees, olive trees and beautiful flowers.
    The outside space is fabulous with large shaded patio and an open first floor terrace that looks out over the lemon grove. The property is well appointed with large kitchen, lounge & dining area, 2 shower/toilet rooms, 2 cosy double bedrooms and a twin bedroom. Note no air conditioning. There is a secluded path leading directly to the sea shore not more that 5 minutes walk through the lemon groves and garden. The beach immediately accessed from the villa grounds is sandy and unspoilt where we could bathe and enjoy evening picnics. We were there at the start of June and the beach was pretty and fairly quiet, there are two small lidos on either side of the seashore at the back of the property but not intrusive. Nearby is a small restaurant and lido bar to relax and enjoy a cool drink and some pleasant food.
    The owner speaks English and is a wonderful, charming and warm host who went out of his way to make sure our stay was perfect .
    Note there are 2 or 3 other small cottages in the grounds but they were not near the villa and did not intrude on our privacy. The villa is located right on the small road leading to the quiet village of Salinelle so please expect some noise from passing traffic at various times in the day also being set in such lush vegetation you may want to prepare for mosquitoes, ants etc. as you wander through the grounds.
    There is a nearby train station so you can get into both Cefalu & Palermo without the hassle of taking a car into these popular and busy places if you want to. I would certainly recommend this villa to my friends!

    This apartment is close to the inland border of Castellamare, so you can be on the motorway to Palermo, Trapani, or the South Coast in a matter of minutes. It also means you are spared the narrow streets of the old town. We found the apartment very comfortable for the four of us, and there was room for another friend who sadly had to cancel her visit.

    We didn't need to try out the air conditioning (it was April), but the plant seems well specified, and was able to provide backup heating on one cold evening.

    The owners (who live above this rental) were very helpful; they showed us where to park (behind the building, out of sight from the street). This parking is not suitable for low-riding sports cars, but I had no trouble making it onto the drive with a rented Renault Clio.

    If I were returning to the area, I would have no hesitation (well one; there is no dishwasher) in taking this apartment again. And eat again (for pennies) at the Old Station Pizzeria, a couple of hundred yards down the hill towards the town center and supermarket.
