Indoor ) : sleeps 5 From the main door of the apartment, a corridor gives access to a spacious open plan living/dining room adorned with beautiful ancient cross vaults. The room is furnished with a modern two seater sofa, a leather white armchair, a flat-screen satellite TV, an air conditioning/heating unit and a dining table sitting 6 people . This room is very airy and full of light thanks to 3 windows facing the sea. On one side of the living room access is into the kitchen with a window overlooking Conca dei Marini and the sea. The kitchen, adorned with teastfully blue maiolica tiles, is equipped with a four-burner gas cooker, an electric oven, a microwave oven , a refrigerator with freezer, a dishwasher, a washing machine, an Italian-style coffee-maker, an American-style coffee-maker and a bar table with two stools. From the kitchen, 10 steps lead to the mezzanine level which gives access to a bathroom (by climbing 2 more steps) and to the large terrace which benefits from wonderful views over the surroundings countryside and the sea . The small bathroom, with blue modern majolica tiles is equipped with a washbasin, a toilet, a full stall shower and a small window with sea view. The large, private terrace is partly shaded by a retractable awning under which is arranged an outdoor dining area equipped with table , chairs and a barbecue. The building ( with no elevator) is located in the oldest and most central area of Amalfi , only 50 meters away from the famous Piazza del Duomo di Amalfi (Square of the Cathedral of Amalfi), which is the rendezvous of the town. At the foot of the famous stairway to the Duomo, you will find elegant shops, bars, and restaurants with outdoor tables. The promenade along the sea, the beach, all the other tourist attractions and the Piazza Flavio Gioia are a few meters away from the apartment. The interiors have been recently refurbished throughout to provide a comfortable accommodation. The ground floor level is paved with tiles; instead, the first floor, which hosts the sleeping area, is paved with parquet and features sloped ceiling and characteristic exposed wood beams. The nice and modern furniture in the white colour in all rooms make the apartment welcoming and bright. A car is not necessary. The town offers great bus and taxi services. But if you have a car, it is possible to reserve , for a a daily fee of 30/50 EUR , a private parking lot , roughly 800 meters away from the house. (Parking is only possible in paid parking areas) The house welcomes you into a living room which is spacious and comfortably furnished with wicker two seater sofa and armchairs around a coffee table, a satellite TV. This room is full of light thanks to French doors giving access to the terrace and a window facing onto a lemon garden.     The apartment is 3 kilometres east of the town of Amalfi. Amalfi town is overcrowded on most days so better out of town than in it. The apartment itself is spacious and has two great decks that overlook the coast east and west with views a good 20 kilometres across the bay - that alone makes it special. There were only two of us in the place so the deck off the master bedroom was the morning and afternoon deck of choice. It is protected and the daily parade of boats going by is mesmerizing. There is a natural rock arch below the apartment that draws lots of boating action. The kitchen is functional and is sparsely equipped - we like to cook and did three of our four nights. We were hiking so we’re without a car - not sure you would want one as driving is difficult. Groceries are a planning event and you can bus or walk into Amalfi for fresh meat, poultry, fish and other staples. We had our driver stop in Minori on the way in to pick up groceries and meat at two different places. There is great fresh fish in Amalfi every AM and a functional barbecue on the upper deck for cooking. There are also two restaurants a short walk up the Main Street from the apartment - we tried one - the pizza, fish place and it was excellent. Make reservations. It was a lovely visit and by far the most beautiful location of our 4 stops along the coast. We would definitely stay here again.

    The road to get to novella (the town this unit is in) is quiet dangerous. We drove from Naples and followed the owners directions. WARNING do not drive the road at night
    It is a narrow single lane road up a mountain range via switch backs and NO street lights. This should be declared on the listing by the owner. While the listings says 4 miles to the beach, it does not say you must scale the mountains to get there. After we arrived we enjoyed the peace and quiet but won't stay there again or recommend to anyone
