And, 7 minutes to Butchart Gardens and the Gowlland Tod Provincial Park and Durrance Lake and Elk Lake for great hiking and swimming. We are a working holly farm during the Christmas season, on five acres and surrounded by trees and forests. But, we are not remote. Within walking or driving distance are restaurants, hiking trails, lakes, golf courses, The Observatory, the ocean, kayaking, wineries, organic farms and shopping centers that offer all amenities including a walk-in clinic. Our suite is reasonably priced with no additional taxes or fees. We offer a discount for longer stays. There will be a selection of tea in the suite and fresh ground coffee with cream. We will assist you with directions and recommendations to the many local grocery stores and farmers markets. We are a scent free home and use natural cleaning products. And, our deep well water is delicious to drink. We do not have animals or children on the premises. Our interests include music and art, cooking, gardening and hiking. We look forward to making your stay here memorable, pleasant, and private.

    Our Lodge is a west coast retreat lying off the pristine north-east coast of Vancouver Island, B.C. Located on the south shore of Cormorant Island, the lodge overlooks Johnstone Strait. This narrow, glacier-carved waterway is home to a population of about 200 orcas, the largest pod in the world. Cedar log in construction, the Lodge was originally a church. This legacy is reflected in the arched cedar beams that frame the expansive common room and the former pulpit which now serves as the dining room. Guests can peruse the library, relax by the woodstove and exchange stories with others. Wireless internet is available without charge. The main kitchen, including a cold room and freezer, is available. Orcas are often spotted from the sundeck, which is a stone's throw from the beach. Across the Strait from the Lodge, the Vancouver Island Mountain Range rises from the shores of Vancouver Island, providing a stunning backdrop to our ocean view. The lodge is busiest from mid-June to the end of September when orca and grizzly bear viewing is prime. Year round attractions unique to Alert Bay include the U'Mista Cultural Centre. Known for its potlatch collection, the Centre is a 20 minute walk away along the ocean road and is open Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Four piece bathroom with an antique claw foot tub and separate stand alone shower. A well behaved dog is permitted with a pet deposit and small addition to the cleaning fee. The suite is completely private with a separate entrance. There is a garden area with 2 lounge chairs for hanging out. The house has a very good wireless system. Sorry but there is no fenced outside areas for your dog. I live on the main floor of the house and am available for any questions that might arise. You'll have my cell phone for questions if I'm not home. The suite has a binder full of local attractions, maps and all those sorts of things that will make discovering this city pretty easy. The keys to the suite are in a code locked box that you'll have access to once you've booked the space. I leave it up to the guests to decide how much interaction they would like.

Dalmeny Farm Estate was recently renovated in 2019 in much of the indoor living spaces and the outdoor yard and driveway giving it modern appeal yet still with touches of its past. The living and sleeping spaces are all on one level making it easy for guest that may have some mobility concerns however, there is a couple stairs to gain access into the house from the outside. The fully equipped modern kitchen has been amazingly renovated to ensure the chef in your group has a place to practice the culinary arts. The dining room with the antique farmer's table seats up to 8 people comfortably. There are two living room spaces on each side of the brick decorative fireplace with bay windows providing the views of the farm acreage and distant hills. The owners have a storage area separate from the unit, so you will not be denied access to any area. The large ensuite bathroom provides all of the normal amenities. In a closet inside the bathroom are the washer and dryer. All 3 closets have been professionally designed and finished providing significant storage. The floors are wood throughout, with the exception of the bathroom floors, which are tile. There is a good sized private deck that you access from the living room. The deck has lounge chairs and a small table as well as a propane BBQ. The Camden Green building has been awarded the Gold Standard for its construction and use of energy. Hot water and heating is done by a geothermal unit which means there will be plenty of hot water and for those cold days, the heat coming through the floor will keep your feet warm. The owners have provided two notebooks for guests.
